DOCS International and the Institute of Clinical Research (ICR)announce the launch of CRAcademy

The dilemma facing new Life Science graduates and others wanting to embark on a career in the Pharmaceutical Industry is that employers understandably prefer to hire candidates who already have relevant practical experience.  In a concerted and innovative effort to overcome this impasse, the (CRAcademy) is being launched by  DOCS International  – the European staffing company dedicated to resourcing the Healthcare Industries – in partnership with The Institute of Clinical Research (ICR)  – the leading European body for clinical research professionals.

Beginning on , after several successful pilots, CRAcademy will organise core traineeships for starter clinical research professionals with Pharmaceutical Industry sponsors in key European countries.  By heightening awareness of career opportunities in clinical research, CRAcademy will help to remedy the current shortage of starter professionals with the kind of experience that is high on any employer’s wish list.  Completion of a CRAcademy traineeship, with its emphasis on hands-on experience coupled with a clear understanding of the basic elements of clinical research, will provide trainees with a solid platform for future career development in the Healthcare Industries.

Within CRAcademy, DOCS International will be responsible for trainee coaching and support, and for contact and placement with sponsors.  The ICR will run the “Introduction to Clinical Trials Practice” course, co-develop the traineeship manual, and administer the final examination on conclusion of the traineeship.

The two founding partners are convinced that CRAcademy will successfully and effectively facilitate the transition from tertiary education into the Healthcare Industries. Through the provision of specific training and professional support, CRAcademy will give trainees a head start towards a successful career in clinical research.  At the same time it will provide positive gains for sponsors wanting to make a sound investment in the future of their organisation.
