SPi Global’s SmartDub Solution wins PIC at LocWorld Silicon Valley 2019

Manila, Philippines, November 14, 2019. SPi Global ,  the world’s leading content technology and solutions provider and HOOQ, Southeast Asia’s largest video-on-demand service, today announced that SmartDub, an artificial intelligence (AI) dubbing innovation emerged the winner of the recent Process Innovation Challenge (PIC) at LocWorld Silicon Valley 2019, the leading conference for localization, translation, and global website management.

SmartDub was chosen among dozens of entries and declared the front-runner, out of six finalists in the Technology track, for its industry-first features. Among them is its ability to generate synthetic voices by merging AI with Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology and voice morphology. SmartDub enables users to produce different artificial voice outputs for multiple languages by changing voice variables such as pitch, tone, volume and speed.

These features allow content to be more accessible to otherwise underserved market segments and reduce dependency on subtitles, particularly on mobile devices and in geographies with literacy challenges. With SmartDub in place, users can create deeper connections with content in their native language. 

Using SmartDub, production times are reduced to hours rather than days, and production costs are significantly reduced, resulting to much-improved time to market and overall process and cost efficiencies.
