Alan Kennedy Wins Lifetime Achievement Award at the Asia-Pacific Bioprocessing Excellence Awards

Alan Kennedy, Director of Team Poseidon Ltd and a longstanding industry reformist, has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the pharmaceutical supply chain at this year's prestigious Asia-Pacific Bioprocessing Excellence Awards (APBEA) in Singapore on 8th July 2020.

With more than 25 years of cross-sector experience, Kennedy is a specialist in supply chain dynamics with a particular focus on pharmaceutical logistics. He is one of the architects behind the ground-breaking Poseidon integrated pharma freight model with the goal of radically improving the long-haul transportation of pharmaceutical products. He currently serves as the independent 'neutral trustee' for this radical distribution model. Alan has served on many industry supply chain committees and working parties, he regularly presents on supply chain matters and has authored numerous papers on this topic.

According to his contemporaries Alan Kennedy is passionate about driving change, is deeply environmentally aware and takes corporate social responsibility very seriously.

At the APBEA awards ceremony, held virtually for the first time, Kennedy spoke about being "excited, honoured and grateful" to be recognised in this way and went on to say that the coronavirus pandemic represented a pivotal turning point for pharmaceutical logistics:

"In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis the need for more robust, resilient and sustainable supply chains has never been more pressing," he stressed. "Because the pandemic has changed everything, including how we will be transporting drugs and medicines safely around the world in the future. So I am very pleased to be playing a part, however small, in pushing the changes needed to make this happen in practice."

Kennedy also paid tribute to his fellow visionaries in the Poseidon program and closed out with the "warning" that he aims to be "shaking up this exciting industry for a long time yet".  

The Asia-Pacific Bioprocessing Excellence Awards are hosted by event organiser IMAPAC to provide recognition to exceptional leaders and companies in the Asia Pacific region, the world's fastest growing market for medicines and vaccines. Candidates for the Award are initially nominated before being shortlisted and submitted to an industry-wide ballot.
