Current Health Recognized in Fast Company’s 2021 World Changing Ideas Awards
Company honored for enhancing hospital capacity and supporting COVID-19 vaccine trials throughout the pandemic
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Current Health, the leading enterprise remote care management platform, today announced it has been recognized in the “Health” category of Fast Company’s 2021 World Changing Ideas awards. The annual awards program – which honors innovative companies and products engaged in solving critical health crises, social injustice, and economic inequality – has recognized Current Health for its role supporting health systems and pharmaceutical organizations in managing the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the pandemic pushed health systems to the brink, Current Health worked quickly to enable health systems to manage patient health at home using its remote care management platform. In addition to helping preserve capacity by caring for patients at home, Current Health’s clinical dashboard provided the insight needed for health systems to prioritize resources, streamline operations, and focus on the patients that needed care most. Further, Current Health worked with pharmaceutical companies and research institutes, like the Mayo Clinic, to support decentralized clinical trials. With its continuous remote monitoring technology and built-in telehealth capability, Current Health removed the need for in-person site visits while supporting patient safety and therapy development efforts.
“COVID-19 has shown how important it is to be able to deliver high-quality, safe, and accessible healthcare at home. I’m so proud of how our team rose to the challenges of the last year to enable our partners to do just that,” said Chris McCann, CEO and Founder of Current Health. “This award is wonderful recognition of the team’s hard work and underscores the massive opportunity we have to make the home a primary site of care.”
This award comes on the heels of Current Health’s $43M Series B fundraise, which will be used to support the company’s continued growth and momentum. Today, Current Health’s platform is used by many of the world’s leading health systems including Mount Sinai Health System, Geisinger Health, and the UK National Health Service to monitor and manage patient care at home.
Current Health provides a single point of insight into patient health outside the hospital, ingesting data from hundreds of remote monitoring devices – along with patient-reported data and electronic medical record data – to identify and predict the onset and progression of disease. Current Health’s physician-led virtual command center provides 24/7 care management capability and seamlessly integrates with a range of in-home healthcare services to provide a single, integrated solution across the care continuum. The platform is also used by major pharmaceutical companies to move delivery of complex therapy into the home and support home-based drug trials.
“There is no question our society and planet are facing deeply troubling times. So, it’s important to recognize organizations that are using their ingenuity, impact, design, scalability, and passion to solve these problems,” says Stephanie Mehta, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “Our journalists, under the leadership of senior editor Morgan Clendaniel, have discovered some of the most groundbreaking projects that have launched since the start of 2020.”
