Health tech and wearables, virtual clinical trials, and the impact of AI on healthcare are hot topics at MedTech Integrates 2021

London, UK, 8th June 2021 / Sciad Newswire / Inspired by the success of the inaugural MedTech Integrates last October, Life Science Integrates (LSI) is delighted to announce its second conference, to be hosted live online on Tuesday 22 June 2021. This annual event is a one-day gathering of technology, diagnostics, devices, and therapeutics organisations, as well as clinicians and regulators.

Relevant and timely topics, spanning several areas, will be explored throughout the conference programme, under three key themes of detection, reflection, and projection:

  • We all know that disease detection is key to diagnosis and treatment of patients, but how are we accelerating the clinical translation of MedTech, and is it impacting wealth as well as health?
  • As we reflect upon an unprecedented year, what impact has Covid-19 had on MedTech development and commercialisation?
  • Looking at future projections, what will virtual clinical consultations and trials, data sharing and disease prediction look like? And how will regulations change?

“A lot of people are talking about the long-term impact of Covid-19 at the moment; among these, concerns about a future pandemic of inactivity, mental illness and loneliness,” comments LSI Co-Founder and Executive Director, Samuel Thangiah. “Our challenge in the MedTech community is to ensure that such health issues can be tracked and treated. We are delighted to have speakers from the Wellcome Trust, UKRI and other respected organisations leading this debate.”

Among this year’s 80 speakers are Darren Curry, who oversees digital and data services for the NHS Business Services Authority, and Innovate UK’s Cynthia Bullock. Also joining the discussion is Pradeep Kakkattil, Director of the Office of Innovation at the Joint United Nations Programme, where he has responsibility for building and implementing a culture designed to generate new and innovative solutions for the health and HIV response globally.

Alan Sumner, from Roche Diagnostics will also be discussing ways in which we can ensure technologies translate into clinical practice, particularly now Brexit’s impact upon medical device regulation prompts us to think about the possibility of new opportunities.
