DemoDay and graduation for eight healthtech innovations from SmiLe
Today marks the end of the seventh round of SmiLe Bootcamp. The ten-week program prepares entrepreneurs in healthtech, medtech and eHealth to develop and market their innovations and to attract venture capital.
At today’s DemoDay, participants pitch their business ideas to a panel of business angels, investors from Almi Invest and representatives of the Connect investor network.
DemoDay is the culmination of an intensive business development program that SmiLe has now carried out for the seventh time. SmiLe Bootcamp (formerly known as Health2B) ranks among the top 15 healthtech accelerators in Europe and the top 5 in Sweden, and is held for national and international entrepreneurs who have given the program 5-star reviews.
There have been nearly 300 applicants to the seven rounds, of which 49 projects or companies have been accepted. In this year's edition, the participants represent seven nationalities. Two of the projects come from Austria and the rest from Sweden.
At today's DemoDay, participants pitch their business plans to a highly experienced panel of investors – business angels, Almi Invest (one of Sweden’s most active startup investor) and Connect investor network – who provide individual feedback to the entrepreneurs.
During the course, participants have improved their business concepts through market verification and advice from experts and SmiLe’s coaches, who have extensive industry experience from both startups and large global companies. Lectures and workshops presented on SmiLe’s digital platform provide participants with broad knowledge of the requirements and opportunities of the life science industry.
SmiLe’s sponsor companies AWA, Høiberg, Zacco, Setterwalls and Prevas presented lectures in their areas of expertise and also contributed prizes for the participants.
“It is incredibly gratifying to see how much more confident the participants are now in their roles as entrepreneurs. Everyone has made great progress based on the feedback and support they received in the program, and I am confident that we will be hearing more about these companies in the future,” says Ebba Fåhraeus, CEO of SmiLe Incubator.
