VitalSource Now Carries Complete Labster Portfolio of Science Lab Simulations
Digital campus bookstore integration provides students and instructors around the world with streamlined day-one access to award-winning interactive Labster science courseware
BOSTON & RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#STEM--Labster (www.labster.com), the world's leading platform for virtual labs and interactive science, is partnering with VitalSource®, a leading education technology solutions provider, to make the full Labster platform and entire portfolio of lab simulations available for direct purchase through VitalSource. This reseller agreement will broaden the accessibility of Labster's courseware through VitalSource’s more than 3,600 campus bookstore integrations across the globe.
For a decade, Labster has provided educators with the ability to digitally explore and enhance their science offerings and supplement their in-classroom activities. Labster virtual simulations are especially useful for pre- and post-lab assignments, so teachers can fully optimize the time students spend on-site in high-demand physical laboratories. Labster also integrates with existing Learning Management Systems (LMS), making it easy to view student performance data and tailor decisions on coaching opportunities, as well as reduce time spent on grading.
VitalSource® is the leading education technology solutions provider committed to helping partners create, deliver, and distribute affordable, accessible, and impactful learning experiences worldwide. As a recognized innovator in the digital course materials market, VitalSource is best known for partnering with thousands of publishers and institutions to deliver extraordinary learning experiences to millions of active users globally. Over the last year, more than 15 million people used the VitalSource Bookshelf® platform, relying on its anytime, anywhere access, best-in-class study tools, and industry-leading accessibility and privacy features to improve their learning experience and outcomes.
“We’re delighted that VitalSource will now make our full portfolio of courseware easily available to higher ed students even in far-flung corners of the globe, supporting our mission to provide equal access to 100 million students and educators in multiple languages,” said Michael Bodekaer Jensen, co-founder and CEO of Labster. “We’ve listened to customers and simplified procurement through VitalSource so instructors can spend less time on signup logistics and more time supporting their students. Instructors have the option of purchasing Labster directly from the VitalSource platform or by contacting our account management team who will gladly facilitate the access and onboarding process.”
VitalSource is also a leading provider in flexible access programs, including Inclusive Access, which gives students day-one access to required course materials at the lowest possible price. This course-by-course delivery model ensures students are ready to learn and succeed on the first day of class.
Labster currently offers 270-plus STEM curriculum-aligned virtual lab simulations in biology, biochemistry, genetics, biotechnology, chemistry, physics, and more. The browser-based Labster simulations can be played on a variety of the most commonly used devices — from desktop computers to iPad and Android tablets to Chromebooks.
Instead of using a slide deck or a video in their curriculum, teachers slot in Labster interactive labs which take advantage of gamification techniques and entertaining real-world scenarios to boost student enthusiasm and engagement. As a result, research and case studies demonstrate that students perform better in physical labs and score higher in tests as a result of their prep work on the Labster platform.
“Partnering with companies like Labster allows us to continue to diversify and expand the range of digital learning materials and impactful experiences that we are able to provide to millions of students,” said Mike Hale, Chief Content and Learning Officer at VitalSource. “VitalSource has always been dedicated to ensuring students get all of their learning tools where they are and when they need them.”
