The price of Accu-Chek® Instant 50 strips will reduce to £5.95

Roche today announced that the cost of the Accu-Chek Instant 50 strips will be reduced to £5.95.

The strips previously cost £7.50, and the reduction is anticipated to come into effect on 1st September 2023. It is hoped that the price reduction will ensure that the Accu-Chek Instant meter can be made available to more people with diabetes, to support them in their diabetes management.

The Accu-Chek Instant system is a "connected" blood glucose monitoring (BGM) system, featuring Bluetooth® enabled connectivity, which allows for wireless transfer of blood glucose results to the mySugr®†app. Data from the mySugr mobile app can also seamlessly be shared with healthcare professionals via the RocheDiabetes Care Platform, in near real-time. The Accu-Chek Instant system supports and enables Roche’s approach of integrated Personalised Diabetes Management (iPDM).

Sean Gaffney, General Manager at Roche Diabetes Care commented; “At Roche Diabetes Care we constantly strive to make sure that we work in partnership with the NHS, to serve healthcare professionals and, ultimately, people with diabetes. Our focus is centered around providing support to healthcare professionals, and developing digital solutions to solve some of the daily challenges involved with patient care.

It is clear that pricing, within the self-monitoring blood glucose segment, has become increasingly important. As a business, we endeavor to remain competitive whilst continuing to work in partnership with the NHS.

We believe the combination of the Accu-Chek Instant Meter and its free of charge connectivity to the mySugr app and the RocheDiabetes Care Platform, provides patients and healthcare professionals with real value. Feedback from HCPs1-3 has shown that by using these products and solutions, it has enabled them to deliver care more efficiently, and increase capacity, thereby saving time and costs.”
