The theme for this year’s IWD’s is to #inspireinclusion and celebrate diversity and empowerment on International Women's Day and beyond. GC Aesthetics® is introducing its own initiative - ‘For Women, From Women’, celebrating the expertise, drive, dedication and vision of its female employees. The company has collated the unique perspectives and contributions of its female innovators. From engineers and scientists to its quality control and communications experts, to share their views on how they are championing women every day.
Sharon Murchison, UK Customer Operations Supervisor at GCA UK, said:
“For me, being a woman and knowing the challenges we encounter on a daily basis, working for a company like GCA, who prioritise women’s health is a privilege”.
Maria Stevenson, Clinical Affairs Specialist at GCA UK, said:
“I think being a woman in the breast implant manufacturing industry is important because it promotes diversity and inclusion”.
“When working in the breast implant industry you can serve as role models, challenge stereotypes and encourage a broader range of voices and perspectives”.
Nicoleta Tirzuman, Exports Customer Service Assistant at GCA France, said:
“We understand each other and we manufacture medical devices from woman to woman with love”.
Jade Dubois, Marketing Manager at GCA France, said:
“The beauty of being a woman and working at GCA is that you’re able to put yourself in the shoes of a patient. You’re able to understand their desires, objectives and needs”.
Marta Soldevila, Medical Liaison & GCA Academy Director at GC Aesthetics, said:
“Women are key, not only in this industry but also in the medical vocation linked to breast implants. We have seen that in a lot of congresses, we see more male surgeons leading talks. We are trying to do our best in our medical vocation events so that we have a clear representation of female surgeons. Not only in reconstruction but also of course in plastic surgery. That’s our goal to have a voice of female surgeons in our events”.
Mgr. Zuzana Puceokova, Distributor in Siklienka, Slovakia for GCA, said:
“The importance of a woman in our industry is seen in our approach and our point of view which comes from our emotional intelligence and empathy. After all, who can help and understand women more than women themselves”.
Elise Noclain, HR Manager at GCA France, said:
“I think the presence of a woman in the company can encourage the culture and organisation, promote decision making and contribute to the overall performance of the company”.
Alejandra Cuesta, GCA Distributor, Medicorp, Chile, said:
“The role of women in this business is key. We take care of each other, we know what each other is going through, we know how we feel and we know what is important to us. We know how important it is to feel good about our bodies and to feel complete. We know how to advise other women and we know how to accompany clients in this process. Patients come to us after having very different conversations with their doctors. Even if they are close, we know that we have a closer connection with them when it comes to our products. That’s why I think it’s important in the world of implants that we as women are here.
Mary Lou Joetzer, R&D Engineer at GCA France, said:
“I think having women in the company, especially in a company that was born from women’s health is an opportunity to drive our creativity and sensitivity further”.
Funto Karunwi, Regulatory Affairs Associate at GCA UK, said:
“I think it’s important to be a woman working in the breast implant industry because as a woman myself, we can understand the needs of our patients and I think that translates well into what we do at GC Aesthetics. We ensure that our products are as safe as possible and that they feel comfortable in their own body”.
Cristina Rodriguez Echevarria, GCA Global Digital Marketing Manager, said:
“I believe that diversity brings innovation. Having women in all aspects of a breast implant manufacturing company is crucial for several reasons. First of all, who knows women better than other women, who knows women’s bodies better than other women and when I say women, I mean all types of women. Women who were born women and women who become women. We know what women want, have empathy, their needs, and their concerns, and we can think about their desires. This is important from all aspects of the organisation: product development, quality control, communications, and customer service. And so I believe that having a diverse and equal opportunity in a company is important”.
Natalie Stewart, QA Manager at GCA UK, said:
“Women are typically underrepresented in our industry so I think it’s very important that there is a good perspective from the female point of view. We have friends and family that have had our products in the past and it’s crucial that we are able to bring our own perspective to that”.
Lou-Ann Timon, R&D Engineer and GCA UK, said:
“Our products are mainly designed for women, so I think it’s important having women working in the company because we understand the needs of our patients and all our customers”.
Fara Naomi Macia, Chief Marketing Officer at GCA, said:
“At GC Aesthetics, we provide ourselves in manufacturing and offering products that have a positive impact on women’s lives. For either breast reconstruction or aesthetic enhancements, we work passionately every day to make sure that we have this positive impact in their lives. We are proud to say that our products are for women, from women. In GC Aesthetics, 57% of our workforce is female and we work passionately each day with that purpose in mind.
At GC Aesthetics®, women are not just a part of GCA®. We are its heartbeat. From skilled people in research and design who understand women’s needs to the skilled production team that crafts implants. Our mission at GC Aesthetics is deeply personal. We know that breast implants are more than just that, they symbolise a journey, a reclaiming of confidence and for many, a brave stand against cancer. This understanding shapes our approach. Making our items not just items of position but of compassion and empathy. Our female engineers and scientists bring a perspective that’s invaluable. They don’t just design, they empathise. In our labs, our women researchers innovate because they know that the impact of their work extends beyond the confines of our company and into the lives of women worldwide. It’s not just about what we make but how we make it. We believe that by supporting women, we are not just shaping a better company, we are shaping a better world”.
